OSN National Science Olympiad for Senior High School

Indonesian goverment especially Ministry of Education always held national science olyimpiad or in Indonesian said Olimpiade Sains Nasional (OSN). OSN is the greatest science competition in Indonesia. OSN is multilevel olympiad, start from elementary school, junior high school and senior high school. Each level has different subject.

            National Science Olympiad for senior high school has most subject. OSN for senior high school has nine branches. The branches are biology, physic, chemistry, mathematics, astronomy, geography, economy, computer and earth (kebumian). There are a long way to each senior high school student to reach the national science olympiad. They started from selection in their school. Each school has different way to select their best student to join the regency science olympiad or OSK in Indonesia. From OSK test, each regency has three best students each subject for next stage. The next stage is province science selection or OSP. OSP actually are national selection for join the real national science olympiad. OSP use a passing grade system.

            The student that can pass the passing grade can join the national science olympiad. There are some city be the organizer for OSN. For OSN 2016, Palembang is the organizer of OSN. In OSN the best students of Indonesian will do theory test and experiment test. The winner of OSN is described by medals, gold medals, silver medal and bronze medal. Each gold medalist for each subject will be representative of Indonesia in the International Competition. So, actually OSN is the selection method for choose a representative of Indonesia in International Competition.
