Saint Valentine Hero of Love

            Now is 14th February, do you know what is the special of this day? Yes, now is Valentine’s Day. I am sure that everyone know this day and I am sure everyone like this day. But what is Valentine? Actually, Valentine is the name of Roman Priest. So, I have interesting story about Valentine.

            Saint Valentine (some source called Saint Valentinus) is a Roman Priest that lived in Roman (Now called Italy). St. Valentine live in the Claudias Period. Claudias is the Roman Emperor at the time. At the tim (around 265 AD), Roman Kingdom had a great war again Greece. So, Claudias need many soldiers to help in the war. He didn’t want only has many soldiers, but also has great quality of soldiers. He prohibited the marriage of young people. The purpose is to make the young people can be great soldiers for war. He make the soldier is only focus in war, not focus in his wife or his family.

            Based from that law, all of young people was sad. They didn’t want a old marriage. Many of young people came to Saint Valentine to give solution. After hearing young people statement, St. Valentine felt pity. So, he decieded to help young people for marriage. Saint Valentine as a priest to that secretly in the basement of chruch. Finally, Claudius Emperor know the St. Valentine’s action. He commanded his soldiers to caught the St. Valentine and bring him to the jail. Claudius emperor think that Valentine’s faults is not forgivers. He want St Valentine had death punishment. At noon, in the city hall, there are many people come at the day when the St. Valentine execution. Finally, Saint Valentine was beheaded at 14th February 278 AD. All of people was sad because lost Valentine. They think that Valentine is the hero of love that unite the love of two people.

            For remember the Saint Valentine, at Europe held a party every 14th February . First Valentine’s party is an idea of Paus Gelasius I at 496. Every year, people in the world celebrate the love day every 14th year (the day when Valentine die). So, we must say thanks to St. Vantentine, the hero of love.
